Where has chivalry gone?

Hey all,

Today I pose the question: Where has chivalry gone? There's so many sexist lyrics on songs today(particularly rap); men call women bitches as a formal address; women call each other bitches, whores, and hoes. The other day, I watched a man walk through a door, and then let the door slam back onto his girlfriend's face. She held her hand on her nose and she was almost in tears. All the man did was walk back to her and say "My Bad."

What is the reason for this? A man should treat a woman like a princess. He should open doors for her, buy her dinner and pay for dates. He should compliment her whenever she looks beautiful and deal with it when she doesn't. A man should look at both the good and bad of a woman. Truth be told...love is not all about looks. Sure, our initial attraction to each other is purely physical, the relationship cannot be built on physical qualities only.

Why do most rap songs refer to women as bitches, hoes, and whores? Aren't we teaching our young men to disrespect women? The other day I listened to a song on the radio that described a grown man slapping his "bitch" because she wouldn't get him a beer. Women are not our slaves! And in no circumstances whatsoever should a man hit a woman.

This type of behavior in today's society is one reason why our society is in such bad shape. So much for civilized behavior.
