Detroit 1-8-7 A Huge Success + Zombie Walk Detroit

Hey all,

Last night was the premier of Detroit 1-8-7 on ABC. I though it was a huge success. 1-8-7 kept me at the edge of my seat all hour. The cliffhanger ending caught me by surprise. There's really not much more I can say. The acting was great, the story was great, and the local landmarks kept us talking all night. Also, the reference to ketchup on a coney is legendary. Detective Fitch's comment that "I think we're that last assembly line left in Detroit", referring to the homicide unit, is so true. I give it two thumbs up.

Also on the radar, the annual World Zombie Day is coming up again. On October 10, 2010, we will be walking around downtown Detroit looking for our favorite meal, brrraaaiiinnnsss. I'll be walking as a zombie doctor, complete with syringes and scalpel. The walk is for good reason. All zombies are asked to donate either food or money to Gleaners Food Bank. Check out Zombie Walk Detroit's website at http://www.zombiewalkdetroit.com/. Maybe we should think of organizing a Hamtramck Zombie Walk for a local charity. Could be fun and productive.

Hey all,

Your actions describe who you truly are. If you behave in an upper-class manner people around you will assume you are upper class. If you behave like an uneducated city dweller living in poverty, you will be treated as such. Wanna stop being poor? Sop acting like it!

Today, in the alley behind CVS parking lot, a former store called ATN Fashions began handing clothing out to a crowd of poor people. What's the problem with this? Allow me to elaborate.

ATN Fashions was closed recently due to a fire in the store. The building is now condemned and is weeks away from demolition. The building's storage areas were flooded with rain water and several dead animals were found in the building. Now think about this for a moment. Clothes that were stored in a fire damaged building and soaked with rainwater and plagued by mold are being handed out to poor citizens. Are the people of ATN Fashions trying to help residents, or kill them?

Every single person that showed up to this sickening display of poverty was exactly that; poor. Maybe not of money, but of spirit and will. I have seen some of those same people wearing the latest in hip-hop fashions and shoes. They make themselves out to be such big shots. But when something is being handed out free, they turn into ravenous vulchers.

So much for Hamtramck. I say the city has dug its grave and is simply awaiting for more events like this to finally bury it.
